Beacons of Hope

Thomas Kinkade

I wanted to post something entirely different today but I could not bring myself to do it because it seems so trivial in comparison to the devastation in Haiti. I have been home all week with the flu and couldn't do much but watch TV and each time I watched the news it just got worse and worse. The horror of it all. My heart is aching so. I wish I could just reach out and make it all go away for these poor souls. There seems to be some rays of hope though. Help is finally getting to these people.

All we can do right now is just pray for them and pray that they can heal from this. And please pray for the rescuers and volunteers because they are going to have to see and do things that no human being should ever have to go through. I don't think we realize that the rescuers and volunteers are traumatized and deeply affected by this too.

Matthew 11:25-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

xxoo, Sue

  1. I am afraid that the news will only get worse. It is hard to comprehend what they are going through.

It puts our "minor" problems into perspective.

  2. I hope that you are feeling better! It is so sobering to watch the news. Thank you for the verse, so true and so appropriate, now and always.
    With joy,

  3. Sue, thank you for this post. My sentiments exactly! It has been a terrible week and I found it hard to go on "as usual"...
    I'm trying.
I was startled to find that many didn't agree with the help promised to Haiti. I am trying to understand the other side of the coin. I really am!

Warm hugs. Please feel better soon!

  4. G'day Sue ~ TYSM for your post. I am doing catchup from being sick the past few weeks.

You can read how lucky our family has been in the loss of an in-law's bil & cousin in the devastation of Haiti. Our DILs sister was due to return to Haiti the day after the quake ... she was left with nothing, lived in Port au Prince.

It has been over a 30 year period of everyone in this world trying to help these poorly treated people due to the devastation of 3 corrupt government leaders ... they are our sisters & brothers in God's eyes, & mine, we need to assist & we are.

It is heartbreaking to see this all, but they will rise above it, God will hold them.

    Have a wonderful week.

  5. One of my favorite scriptures!!! And a very good reminder to also pray for the volunteers as well. That specific thing had not occurred to me before...thank you.
I hope you're getting over the flu. I finally went in today to get some anti-biotics for this relentless sinus infection. I think we will all welcome Spring this year.
    Take good care,
    M.L.
