Anxiously Waiting

I would love nothing more than to say that fall is in the air. It is my favorite time of year. Alas, I cannot say that. It is once again over 100 degrees here in Northern California, compounded with humidity. But I know that fall is right around the corner with all of its nurturing glory and all of her traditions. I don’t think there is any other time of year that has more family traditions.

There are so many things to love about this time of year. The first sign of fall is when we are ready to decorate our homes in all the colors that seem to hug us. There is something very soothing about the colors of fall. These are the colors of nature after all.

Fall is a time to slow down. It is a time for Mother Nature to nurture us. It is time to take in everything she has to offer.

Fall deocrating can be so effortless.

Fall is apple pies. One of my guilty pleasures is a piece of apple pie for breakfast. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.

The first signs of fall bring the anticipation of Halloween. Whether it is helping the little ones choose just the right costume, or for me and my SH it is the anticipation of all the little ones that come to our door that evening, it seems young and old find Halloween fun. I still remember when our boys were little and how much fun we had making their costumes.

Like many of you I am ready for fall. I love everything about it. The fun, the traditions, the decorating, families coming together, the scents that fall brings with it, and the cooler weather. Oh yes, the cooler weather. I am of the age that I relish cooler weather, but that is for another discussion. LOL!

I am wishing you a very blessed and safe weekend.
Love Sue

  1. Morning!!
Fall in MN is Awesome!!! I can't wait for the leaves to turn into their wonderful colors.
Baking seems to be a fall thing too. I must buy some apples and make some treats.
    Deb :)

  2. Precious post my friend. I love love love Fall, too! When I was little it was my favorite time of year...still is today.

Activities focus on family and fun...maybe that is what I like about it...

xoxoReb PS: My poor beloved Cali. It tears my heart out to know it is suffering from so much heat. :(

  3. I enjoy your blog. As an avid gardener (flowers and flowering shrubs) and one that finds therapy in yard work, fall means the beginning of a slow death to my yard and my outside time. However, I do enjoy decorating for the fall and the fun activities of fall; football, roasting marshmallows around the backyard firepit, and the approaching holidays.

  4. I know, I know! It was terrible here today! In the car it said 102 degree's. Miserable! No matter. This kid is getting out the Fall goodies...and going to enjoy it just as LONG as I can. That PIE!! OMG! It's the sort of apple pie that dreams are made of!!
The flowers's, the darling pumpkins (hmm..wonder if I could do that! :) and those Fall colors on earth as lovely as nature's Fall!!
    NICE post! :)

  5. P.S We are in Riverside, :) I know what you are talking about when you talk about heat!

  6. Such a beautiful post, Sue...loved it all.
Halloween was always so much fun around our house. Our two children and their friends just had a blast...then, when the grands came along, it started all over again. Such fun!!
    xo bj

  7. P.S. I am following you now...:)

  8. Thanks for 'following' my blog.

  9. Sue, your pictures are absolutely divine. Don't you just adore Autumn?!!!!!!

    Barb :-)

  10. I too am dreaming of Autumn and all it's comforts and then looking at the thermometer and just feeling sad. I am decorating and cheering every time a leaf flutters to the lawn. Hurry Fall, we are waiting!

    The Raggedy Girl

  11. Oh, these photos certainly put me in the mood, too! I'd love some of that apple pie for breakfast actually. LOL : )
Good luck getting ready for those shows. I hope you'll post about the things you're making when you have time.
    Take care,

  12. I am waiting for that cooler weather too!

Very hot in Az so it takes a while till I really start thinking about fall. I guess i might as well jump in now.

  13. Oh mY I don't like that type of heat at all. I do however love homemade apple pie anytime of day. Between Mona's candy corn and your apple pie, I'm feeling... um... puffy!!

Love the pictures. Specially the first one with the leaves. Hugs. Tammy

  14. Oh Sue....I so hope your fall comes soon. I's so pretty and crisp, isn't it? I love my summer plants and flowers, but by this time of year I'm sick of taking care of them....and ready for some cozy time.

    Big hugs,

  15. I love the fall too! Crisp mornings.... Lovely photos.

  16. I just love Fall too. And apple pie for breakfast...yummy! It is in the fruit/veggie category right?

    Stay Cozy, Carrie

  17. I should just have that apple pie, oh my does it look good. I am afraid all those beautiful fall colors are only in the store here in Ca. Those pictures of trees and the seasons sure do look beautiful, I am a new follower and a new blogger, please stop by for a visit, I can use all the support I can get..thanks for sharing...

  18. Oh YES! So ready. The trees are turning a bit here now. Normally our falls aren't too exciting. We get lots of wind so the yummy leaves don't last too long. Last year was an exception. It was SPECTACULAR. I so hope we get a repeat this year.

    Loved your pix....makes me yearn.

  19. When I switched to my PC, I left you behind on my laptop links! Sorry it's been so long. I love the flower background and the pictures in this post are fab! I like Fall quite well, but in HI there's very precious little of it.

  20. Hi Sue, I see that it is nice weather in my old stomping grounds. It is raining, and has been for a few weeks here in Texas. In fact I just posted about that today... stop by for a quick visit??

I have that same green wire basket, two in fact. Did you get yours at TJ Maxx or did you pay a fortune and get if off of the Ballards website?

  21. p.s. I just clicked on the "visit Mary button" thinking that it was another blogger who was interested in ME.

What a nice surprise to see that I was the "Queen" herself!!!

Wow... I actually included my (some) ME stuff in my post I mentioned in the previous comment.

  22. p.p.s.

    Now I am getting silly...

But I read my last comment and I just want to say that I do not consider myself to be the "Queen" of anything!

I just for got the "t" in "it".
